Games: GEARS OF WAR 3 Beta

This week I've been playing the Gears of War 3 Beta on the Xbox 360 and so far it's coming along great for being only in beta :D

Gears of War 3 takes place in a fictional universe at the final chapter of the war between the COGs and Locust but soon matters begin to become worsen as a new infection turns Locust into a threatening new race called Lambent.

The beta doesn't offer any campaign what's so ever and only a multiplayer online game service for all beta participants to play for a month's worth of action-packed, face smashing content!

The game types that are currently offered to play are Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Capture the Leader, and the 3 maps that can be chosen from are Mercy, "a large open-air map that should remind veterans of a heavily-tweaked and re-themed Gridlock"; Old Town, "a weird medieval village set-up filled with chickens and wooden barrels to hunker down behind"; Overpass, a "nicely balanced map with a fancy - and largely cosmetic - gimmick that sees it flooding and falling apart as the battle progresses"; and Trenches, which "throws players out into the dusty Locust badlands in a kind of mining-settlement-meets-construction-site".[1]

It also offers a new ranking system where the player can unlock ribbons, medals, skins, characters by completing requirements that it asks, for example, in order to unlock Cole's football costume as a playable character, one must play at least 70 matches in the beta no matter what type, and in order to unlock it in retail when it comes out you must play 10 matches as that costume.

The beta so far has been really fun as its on the 2nd week since it started, those who managed to get a copy of Bulletstorm: Epic Edition got an early invitation to the beta a week earlier then those who pre-ordered Gears of War 3 like I did, its only going to get better so if you haven't starting playing your missing out! Hurry and join the fun, kick some major ass and make players cry, because this is only the beginning!

Comics: SPAWN

I've been reading Spawn for the past 2 months now and so far.....
ITS GREAT! :D

The series began in May 1992 by Todd McFarlane after he left Marvel Comics and created Image Comics to come up with his own comic book series after drawing and writing Spider-Man for nearly 5 years starting off with The Incredible Hulk series.

A Hellspawn that made a deal with Malebolgia (the king of the 8th sphere in Hell), to be able to return to Earth and see his wife Wanda, although he was able to return. Spawn (Al Simmons) returns to Earth and comes to realizes that his wife has now re-married with his former best friend Terry Fitzgerald and now has a child named Cyan. Spawn spends alot of time on Earth trying to figure out who he is and to find out who killed him and sent him to hell. Although we find that his real purpose is to collect souls for Hell's army which is preparing for war against Heaven and to become a general in Hell's army.

Spawn is a great comic book series that is completely different from the rest like Spider-Man, Fantasic Four, etc. It doesn't follow the typical superhero cliche and follows more of a viglante like The Punisher or Daredevil. The story itself is rather slow and vague at first but once you continue to read more issues it will all come together like a big puzzle. The artwork improves as almost every issue has a different artist contributing to this series as Todd later stops drawing Spawn due to more business issues and various other companies he now owns.

My personal favorites are Todd McFarlane and Greg Capullo! :D

Spawn has been collaborated into a TV series, Movie, Toys, Games, Japanese Manga all around the world and became a very popular character in the 90's. Now, ever since the comic book decline towards the late 90's and into the new millennium, Spawn has now become a character of yesteryear and still continues on its legacy and has over 200 issues including various side-stories, one-shots and crossovers. Spawn has yet to die from the comic book scene and hopefully will once again rise to the top.
